The business.gov.au website is an online government resource for the Australian business community. By using business.gov.au businesses are able to comply with government requirements more simply and conveniently.
We provide a wide range of services and information about start-up, taxation, licensing and legislation, as well as significant transactions such as ABN Lookup, taxation compliance and licence applications. The website is continuously being refined and progressively offers more online transactions in response to business needs.
Business Entry Point Initiative
The Business Entry Point Initiative is funded by the Australian Government and coordinated by the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education , with the support of state and territory governments. It is overseen by the Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency and Minister for Industry and Innovation, Greg Combet, the Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research, Chris Evans, the Minister for Manufacturing and Minister for Defence Materiel, Kim Carr, and the Assistant Treasurer, Minister for Small Business, and Minister for Sport, Mark Arbib.
Through the Initiative, the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education manages the business.gov.au website and also develops technical solutions to transform the way that business interacts with the whole of government. We keep our clients and stakeholders informed of our activities and initiatives with the business.gov.au Consultative Forum. Details of our activities are:

Evaluation of business.gov.au
In 2008, an independent evaluation of business.gov.au was undertaken by the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education. This involved comprehensive consultations, desktop research, economic modelling as well as a large scale survey of end users.
