The Australian Government’s $50 million Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund (RRIF) is now closed. The fund provided Local Government Authorities (LGAs) with incentives to press ahead with regulatory reforms to benefit small business, in particular home-based businesses.
As part of the RRIF, the Department prepared several case studies of demonstration projects developed by local councils. These examples provide LGAs with ideas on reducing the impact of regulation on small and home-based businesses through changing business practices and the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). These projects target compliance with certain local government regulations that small business considers onerous.
