Workplace Relations changes

As an employer, it is important that you are aware of your obligations to your staff under the changing workplace relations system. As of 28 March, the Workplace Relations Amendment (Transition to Forward with Fairness) Bill 2008 comes into effect.

The Bill makes a number of amendments to the Workplace Relations Act 1996 that:

  • prevent the creation of new Australian Workplace Agreements (AWAs)
  • introduce Individual Transitional Employment Agreements (ITEAs) to be available for limited use during the transition period
  • put in place a new no-disadvantage test for future workplace agreements.
