The Government has recently released a draft industry code to implement a nationally consistent, mandatory unit pricing scheme for retail groceries. The new code will apply to online retailers and many store-based retailers who voluntarily supply unit prices for a range of grocery items.

Comments on the new code are invited by 20 April 2009, and the Government intends to implement the code by 1 July 2009. To find out if the new code will apply to you and to submit your comments, see the Treasury  website.
