Are you a grocery retailer? You need to be aware of whether you need to comply with the new Unit Pricing Code. The code came into effect on 1 July 2009 however retailers have a grace period of five months to comply with the new regulations, which become enforceable on 1 December 2009.

You need to comply with the code if you:

  • are a large grocery retailer
  • you operate online
  • you voluntarily opt into the scheme.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has provided a range of guidance material to help you comply:

If you have any questions about the code, whether it applies to you or your obligations under it, call the Unit Pricing Hotline on 1300 746 245. For more information, visit the ACCC website .
