In response to the global recession, the Small Business Support Line has been established to complement existing services to small businesses.
The Small Business Support Line provides a point of contact to access information and referral services that assist small businesses. The Support Line will be able to provide information, assistance or referral on a range of small business issues including:
- finance and cash flow management (including loan and banking products)
- marketing and promotion, including research and statistics
- business planning and diagnostic services
- legal, accounting and taxation services
- registration and licences
- e-business and online assistance
- Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S)
- government initiatives, grants and assistance
- employing staff
- home-based business
- importing and exporting
- tenders and contracts
- intellectual property
- franchising
- insurance
- retail leasing guidance
- personal stress and hardship counselling
- government regulation
- human resource management.
In addition to this service, the Support Line is responsible for the Small Business Credit Complaints Clearing House which provides an avenue for small businesses to direct their issues about access to and the cost of bank finance.
Contact the Small Business Support Line on 1800 77 7275. The Small Business Support Line is open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time). The Support Line will be closed on Australian National Public Holidays .

The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) is a national service that is available to any person or organisation in Australia requiring interpreting assistance for information in languages other than English. Contact TIS on 13 14 50 and ask for 1800 77 7275.
The National Relay Service (NRS) is a phone solution for people who are deaf, or have hearing or speech impairment. You can contact NRS on 13 36 77 for TTY services, or 1300 555 727 for Speak and Listen (SSR) services.
