Blackbird Startmate Ops will use grant funds to expand the scale and scope of its existing accelerator program. The project is focused on discovering Australian entrepreneurs. As part of the expanded program, they intend to deliver multiple roadshows across metro and regional locations in Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra and Brisbane.

Fledge Innovation Labs Pty Ltd

Fledge Innovation Labs – Commercialising MedTech

Fledge has been established to support the design, development and commercialisation of medical devices by Australian start-ups. Co-located with CSIRO and the National Measurement Institute, Fledge provides a collaborative working space for 40 users, access to labs, cleanrooms, 3D metal printing, microscopy, metrology, and a Maker-Space equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, prototyping and testing facilities. Fledge provides access to an extensive network of experienced founders, executives and mentors, as well as experts and industry leaders in MedTech and Venture Capital. Fledge also supports professional development opportunities for interns, through experiential learning on real-world projects.

Darwin Innovation Hub

Paspalis Enterprise Trust will use grant funds to create Darwin’s first Innovation Hub. Paspalis will utilise funds to develop a pipeline of start-ups in the Northern Territory, assist those start-ups commercialise their businesses in international markets and develop a culture of innovation in industry. A critical focus of Paspalis is to develop commercialisation in Asia Pacific and China and indigenous innovation.

Advanced Manufacturing Incubator

The New Ventures Institute at Flinders University (NVI) will use grant funding to develop a program to assist innovative advanced manufacturing focused start-ups achieve commercial success in international markets. Through this project an international focused incubator program will be established that will be run for many years and provide long term benefits for the innovation ecosystem in Australia. The incubator program will be located in the Tonsley Innovation Precinct in Adelaide, SA and will be supported by some of the leading existing South Australian technology and advanced manufacturing companies who will mentor the participating start-ups.

I2N Regional Accelerator

The I2N Hunter Regional Accelerator is an initiative which adds a further critical element to the Hunter’s innovation ecosystem by creating a program tailored to the unique character of the region at an exciting moment its history. Building on longstanding collaboration between Slingshot and the University of Newcastle, the I2N Hunter Regional Accelerator will identify, invest in and support up to 16 start-ups over 2 years. It will additionally run a pre-accelerator program designed for potential entrepreneurs at ideation stage. This initiative will enhance the local ecosystem by generating greater inter-disciplinary and intra-regional collaboration, with a focus on taking Hunter innovations to a global market.

It localises award winning acceleration and innovation programs, delivers tailored workshops, and facilitates international investment via inbound and outbound study tours. eNVIsion Limestone Coast will see new ventures born global, and regional start-ups develop their global competitiveness in export markets.

Following on from the SheStarts accelerator for early-stage female-led start-ups, BlueChilli will use grant funds to create a structured alumni program for later-stage companies to develop skills for scaling their businesses and establishing distribution channels in the US and Asia. This program will support female founders to demonstrate global scale and international distribution opportunities in order to access Series A funding overseas.
