Overview

Extension of closing date for applications

The Entrepreneurs’ Programme – Northern Australia Tourism Initiative has been extended to 31 December 2019 to provide tourism businesses in northern Australia with continued practical support to build management and business capability, improve their performance, grow and be more internationally competitive.

Applications for Tourism Partnerships closed on 30 June 2019. Northern Australian tourism businesses will not be eligible to apply for other Business Management advice and facilitation services. This will allow sufficient time for participating businesses to receive advisory services from our business advisers and facilitators, and also implement key recommendations with the support of an associated business growth grant by the program closure date of 31 December 2019.

Participating businesses will be contacted by the Entrepreneurs’ Programme to discuss transitional arrangements.

Changes to guidelines

The guidelines for Business Management services have recently changed. You should review the Business Management Grant Opportunity Guidelines before applying.

Tourism partnerships was available to tourism businesses in northern Australia. It provided groups or consortiums of tourism businesses in northern Australia with access to an experienced business facilitator for up to 12 months to facilitate and encourage joint activities to assist the group or consortium to increase visitors from interstate and overseas. The groups created a tourism partnerships action plan so they could identify opportunities and strategies to improve capability and competitiveness to increase visitors from interstate and overseas.

At no charge to the consortium, a specialist business facilitator:

  • identified strategies for common business interests and challenges
  • assisted members of the group or consortium to innovate and grow together
  • developed an action plan for successful collaboration
  • provided on-going assistance to implement recommendations from the plan.

Following the development of a tourism partnerships action plan, each business may have been eligible to apply for a Business Growth Grant to assist with the implementation of recommendations.

You can also access services as an individual tourism business through the Business Evaluation or Growth Services.
