Cyber Security Small Business Program

Worried about your small business cyber security? Apply for a grant for a certified cyber security health check. You'll find out the cyber security risk to your business and areas you need to improve on.

What do you get?

A grant of up to $2100 to cover 50% of the cost of a cyber health check.

Who is this for?

Small businesses with 19 or fewer employees.

The Cyber Security Small Business Program is now closed

The government continues to support small business cyber security via:

  • the Business Management element of the Entrepreneurs’ Programme which offers a national network of business advisers and facilitators to help firms improve business practices, including in cyber security
  • a range of advice on cyber security 
  • the Stay Smart Online Alert Service – subscribe to to receive up-to-date information on cyber security issues and solutions


This grant will reimburse you 50% of the cost of a cyber security health check. This includes micro, small or standard certified small business checks.

To get the grant, you must have already had a small business health check done for your business.

You must use a provider approved by the Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers Australia and New Zealand (CREST). CREST certified professionals have passed an examination process and background vetting. CREST have audited them and they have signed up to the CREST code of conduct.


What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible you must have:

  • already had and paid for a cyber security health check by a CREST-approved provider
  • an Australian business number (ABN)
  • 19 or fewer full-time equivalent employees
  • registered for goods and services tax (GST)

You must be one of the following:

  • an entity incorporated in Australia
  • a partnership
  • a sole trader
