Natural Disaster Grants - Small Business NSW

Natural Disaster Grants provide small businesses affected by the 2019/20 bushfires with funding to help with clean-up and restoration costs.

Applications close 6 months after the declared date of the natural disaster.

What do you get?

Funding of up to $15,000.

Who is this for?

New South Wales bushfire-affected small businesses in eligible local government areas.


Funding may be used to contribute towards the cost of:

  • clean-up and removal of debris, including hiring equipment, disposal costs and labour and material costs above normal wage and material expenditure
  • restoring damaged assets and stock, including safety inspections, essential repairs, purchasing, hiring or leasing equipment and stock essential to immediately resume trading
  • relocating to and leasing of, temporary premises when immediate re-opening of damaged premises is not possible

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible your small business must:

  • be located in an eligible local government area
  • be a registered business, partnership or sole trader with an Australian business number (ABN)
  • have fewer than 20 full time (or equivalent) employees
  • have suffered direct damage to your premises and/or equipment or plant
  • have been operating in an eligible area, prior to the date of the event
  • be intending to re-establish in the specified area
