Overview

Work Start Incentives provides employers that are ineligible for the Back to Work program with one-off payments when they employ eligible trainees or apprentices.

The trainee or apprentice must have previously participated in a Skilling Queenslanders for Work program.

A one-off incentive of $10,000 is available. A Youth Boost component of $20,000 is available from 2018-19 onwards if the eligible person is aged 15 to 24 years.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an eligible private sector employer (includes group training organisations and non-government organisations)
  • employ an eligible trainee or apprentice from 1 July 2018
