Ashley is the Sector Director for Medical Technologies and Pharmaceuticals.

Ashley has a PhD in chemistry and he has worked in the biomedical Industry for around 25 years in the UK, USA and Australia. During this time Ashley has held senior roles in new product development, business development and licensing.

Ashley has a deep understanding of the commercialisation of biomedical innovation gained from over ten years overseeing GlaxoSmithKline’s engagement with Australian SMEs and publically funded research organisations, working with Australian SMEs and as the National Executive with responsibility for the medical sector at the Manufacturing Excellence Taskforce Australia (META).

Ashley is passionate about the Australian Medical Technology and Pharmaceuticals industry and has served on a number of boards including academic, NFPs, Cooperative Research Centres and industry associations.

Ged’s executive career has included regional president roles, representing multinational corporations in Asia and Europe. Senior functional oversight included sales and marketing, manufacturing and logistics, quality and regulatory, HR, finance and health economics.

Senior executive and board roles with smaller Australian and UK med-techs have involved Ged in capital raising and the global commercialisation of start-ups. He has been involved in many therapeutic areas including cardiology, renal medicine, vascular, oncology, anaesthesia, gastroenterology, surgery, hematology, urology, with single-use devices, reusable products, and capital equipment. This has enabled him to deal with diverse business challenges in disparate geographic and cultural environments.

Ged has a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. He holds graduate qualifications (Med Tech and MBA) in business and well developed financial, compliance and relationship skills. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
