Entrepreneurs' Programme

The Entrepreneurs’ Programme uses experienced Advisers and Facilitators, drawn from industry, to ensure businesses get the advice and support needed to improve their competitiveness, productivity and to seek growth opportunities. Practical support for businesses, researchers and entrepreneurs includes: advice from people with relevant private sector experience, co-funded grants to commercialise novel intellectual property in the form of new products, processes and services, funding to take advantage of growth opportunities, and connection and collaboration opportunities.

Innovation Connections

Provides small and medium sized businesses with access to expert technology advice to address technology and knowledge gaps, and collaborate with the research sector in developing new ideas with commercial potential. Support includes up to $50,000 in matched funding to work on collaborative projects.

Who can apply:

At a minimum, you must:

  • be a for-profit, non-tax exempt company who is registered for GST and operating in Australia for at least three years
  • have an annual turnover or operating expenditure between $1.5 million ($750,000 for remote Australia and Northern Territory) and $100 million
  • be operating in a specified Growth Sector.

Growth Services

  • Open

Provides businesses who have a growth opportunity with access to experienced growth Advisers who will work with them to develop their unique growth plan. Advisers will mentor the business through the implementation of their plan, facilitating access to knowledge and expertise, research, funding and other assistance.

At a minimum, you must:

  • meet the Entrepreneurs’ Programme eligibility criteria
  • have a realistic and achievable growth opportunity that will transform your business
  • have management commitment to achieving the opportunity and
  • be willing to acquire the necessary resources and capacity to successfully execute a growth plan.

Tourism Partnerships

  • Open

Provides groups of tourism businesses in northern Australia with access to an experienced Business Facilitator for over 12 months. The group will create a Tourism Partnerships Action Plan so they can identify opportunities and strategies for common business interests.

Who can apply:

At a minimum, you must:

  • be a for-profit, non-tax exempt company who is registered for GST and has been operating in Australia for at least three years
  • be operating in the Northern Territory or above the Tropic of Capricorn in Queensland or Western Australia
  • be operating in tourism-related industries (e.g. retail, cafes, restaurants and pubs) and generate a significant portion of your revenue from visitors.

Business Growth Grants

  • Open

Provides businesses with matched funding of up to $20,000 for the cost of hiring an expert to help with implementing the advice and strategies recommended through the Business Evaluation, Growth Services, Supply Chain Facilitation or Tourism Partnerships programmes.

Who can apply?

At a minimum, you must:

  • have received a Business Evaluation Report or Action Plan, Supplier Improvement Plan, Growth Plan, or Tourism Partnership Action Plan under the Entrepreneurs’ Programme
  • submit your application within the eligibility timeframes (typically within six months of receiving advisory services)
  • be able to fund the cost of the external service provider prior to receiving the grant.

Business Evaluation

Provides businesses with access to experienced, independent Business Advisers in order to review the business and provide a Business Evaluation Action Plan with recommended strategies for business improvement or growth. The Evaluation includes up to 12 months of mentoring to help implement the strategies.

At a minimum, you must:

  • be a for-profit, non-tax exempt company that is registered for GST and operating in Australia for at least three years
  • have an annual turnover or operating expenditure between $1.5 million ($750,000 for remote Australia and Northern Territory) and $100 million.
  • be operating in a specified Growth Sector.

Accelerating Commercialisation

Provides businesses with access to expert advice and matched funding of up to $1 million to cover eligible commercialisation costs to help them to take novel products, processes and services to market.

Who can apply:

At a minimum, you must:

  • be a for-profit, registered company operating in Australia, a commercialisation office or eligible partner entity or an individual, partnership or trustee who agrees to form a for-profit company
  • have a novel product, process or service you wish to commercialise.
