Provides employers who hire eligible job seekers funding of up to $10,000 to hire, train and retain job seekers into sustainable jobs.

Who can apply:

At a minimum, you must:

  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • employ an eligible job seeker for 20 hours or more per week, averaged over six months
  • not previously have received a subsidy for the same employee.

Other eligibility requirements may apply.

Deadline to apply:

You must contact an employment services provider within 12 weeks (84 days) of your new employee's start date to apply for a wage subsidy.



Wage subsidies provides a financial incentive to Australian businesses to hire, train and retain eligible job seekers into sustainable jobs.

What support or funding is available?

Employers can access financial incentives of up to $10,000 (GST inclusive) for new employees they hire who are:

  • between 15 and 25 years of age, or
  • 50 years of age and over.

Financial incentives of up to $6,500 are also available if you hire employees who are either:

  • between 25 and 29 years of age
  • parents
  • Indigenous Australians, or
  • have been registered with an employment service provider for 12 months or more.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible to access a wage subsidy, you must:

  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • not have previously received a wage subsidy for the same job seeker
  • not be an Australian, state or territory government agency.

The position you offer to an eligible job seeker must:

  • be for 20 hours or more per week, which is averaged over six months
  • comply with employment standards for the position.
