Market at international trade shows
Last Updated: 04 November 2020
Team Defence Australia (TDA) is closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on international defence tradeshows.
In addition to event organisers decisions to cancel or postpone, TDA’s decision to participate in tradeshows will be based on Government advice provided through Smartraveller, as well as any travel related restrictions and/or implications both for the host country and on return to Australia.
Participants are expected to conduct their own risk assessment and determine how best to obtain value from attending tradeshows as well as how to manage health risks.
Please direct any queries to teamdefence.australia@defence.gov.au.
International trades shows
Attending an international trade show or mission with Team Defence Australia (TDA) is a cost-effective way for your company to:
- export its products and services
- benchmark itself internationally
- research its competitors
Participate in international events
If your company is export-ready, you can submit an expression of interest to participate in an upcoming trade show or mission with TDA.
TDA selects companies based on their product offering and proven track record in the focus area of each event. Companies participating in TDA activities have had success directly through sales, increase in international contacts and networks, introduction to key international decision-makers and enhanced international profile.
TDA events are organised by the Australian Defence Export Office in conjunction with the CDIC and Austrade, coordinated with state and territory governments and supported by defence prime companies.

Prepare for an event
We provide training and mentoring options in the lead up to an event, such as presentation skills training, perfecting the quad chart (a key marketing tool used around the world to articulate your company’s value proposition) and cultural awareness training.
To be considered for a TDA event, you will need to show written advice that your proposed exports comply with Australia’s Defence Export Controls.
