Overview

The Business Development Fund provides early stage co-investment funding to innovative Queensland businesses. The Fund invests in businesses that are looking to commercialise new research or innovative ideas, products or services.

Funding of between $125,000 and $2.5 million is available to invest in a Queensland business. The amount invested will not exceed the amount invested by the private sector co-investor. The invested amount may differ from the level of funding the business seeks. The Fund's investment is a direct investment in the business, and is not a:

  • payment to the co-investor
  • grant
  • loan

Both the co-investor and the Fund will become shareholders in the business. The Fund can exit an investment if:

  • the co-investor exits the investment, or
  • the business is merged, acquired or publicly listed

To be eligible, you must:

  • have the majority of your assets and employees based in Queensland
  • not have property development, land ownership, finance, or construction as your main business activity
