WasteSorted grants provide organisations with funding for projects that aim to avoid waste, recover more value and resources from waste, and protect the environment.

Funding is offered under 2 streams:

Innovative processes

  • funding of up to $200,000 per project
  • supports:
    • the growth of the recycling industry, technologies and jobs to address the growing local need to reduce the amount of e-waste going to landfill
    • the recovery of more value and resources from e-waste and the protection of the environment by responsible e-waste management


  • maximum funding $80,000 (up to $40,000 per project, per annum for 2 years)
  • supports increasing the volume of e-waste being recycled in Western Australia, which will support job creation in the recycling industry

What are the eligibility criteria?

Organisations eligible for funding must:

  • have an Australian business number (ABN) and/or Australian company number (ACN)
  • Have the business/organisation’s (including not-for-profits) registered business address in the State of Western Australia, or
    • be an Australian business/organisation not located in the State of Western Australia, that agrees to register a business address in the State of Western Australia, or
    • be an international business/organisation that agrees to set up a registered business whose registered business address is in the State of Western Australia
  • be made by a valid legal entity that can enter into a funding agreement with the Western Australian Government
  • be a solvent Western Australian based organisation (business, not-for-profit, local governments, regional councils, research groups, universities, community groups and peak industry bodies)
