Regional Queensland small to medium manufacturing enterprises.


Regional manufacturing hubs focusing on strengthening key manufacturing sectors provide a place for local manufacturing businesses to receive expert advice and support to transition to advanced manufacturing, including helping them:

  • improve productivity
  • build international competitiveness
  • stimulate job generation and private sector investment
  • adopt new technologies in equipment, robotics, processes, systems, software, data use and analytics
  • implement skills and training
  • attract and retain skilled employees

The hubs are located in:

  • Cairns - marine, aviation and food processing
  • Townsville – advanced metal production and food transformation
  • Rockhampton – rail manufacturing and technology, advanced metal production and food product innovation

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible for assistance from a hub, you must:

  • be a Queensland-based SME whose principal activity is manufacturing
  • be located in the SA4 region for the relevant Manufacturing Hub
  • have operated within Queensland for a minimum of 3 consecutive years prior to making an application
  • be registered for goods and services tax (GST) and hold an active Australian business number (ABN)
  • have a proposed eligible activity that targets Queensland’s manufacturing industry and is relevant to the national and international market, products and services of your enterprise
