The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) have introduced a free online program for small business owners.

What will it cover?

The online course covers both your rights and responsibilities under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010. It includes topics such as your rights and obligations when dealing with customers, how to avoid misleading advertising, how to compete fairly and how to sell safe products.

Education modules

The program is made up of ten online modules:

  1. Misleading conduct & advertising
  2. Pricing & unfair selling practices
  3. Consumer rights and guarantees
  4. Selling safe products
  5. Scams
  6. Unfair contract terms
  7. Unconscionable conduct
  8. Exclusive dealing & resale price maintenance
  9. Cartels
  10. Misuse of market power

Each module contains practical information, examples and a short self-assessment quiz, which you can use to test your understanding at the end.

The modules are short and it’s not compulsory to complete them all, allowing you to choose which modules are most relevant to you and your business. They are available to do at any time and as many times as you want.
