Would you like to trial a young person to see if they’re the right fit for your business?

What is Youth Jobs PaTH?

Youth Jobs PaTH (Prepare-Trial-Hire) is a flexible program that to makes it easier for you to find and recruit motivated young people aged between 17 -24 to trial and hire.

Here’s how the program works:

  1. Prepare: Young people undertake Employability Skills Training to better prepare them for work in your business. You can ask EST providers to tailor a course to meet your needs and discuss your expectations of prospective employees.
  2. Trial: You can trial a young person in an internship for between 4 and 12 weeks and receive a payment of $1000 (GST inclusive) to help cover the hosting costs. Interns will receive a $200 fortnightly incentive payment on top of their income support and are covered by insurance, both paid by the Australian Government.
  3. Hire: If you hire an eligible young person, you can receive up to $10,000 (GST inclusive).

How do I get started with the program?

Register on jobactive to advertise your job trial or get support from an employment services provider to help you arrange a trial.

You can contact your local EST providers directly. A complete list of EST providers, by employment region, is available on jobs.gov.au.
