Drought Communities Programme - Drought Community Support Initiative

Funds selected charities to provide immediate assistance to farmers, farm workers and farm suppliers/contractors who are facing hardship arising from the impact of drought in eligible Local Government Areas.

Who can apply

At a minimum, you must:

  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and
  • be one of the following charity organisations:
    • Country Women’s Association of Australia (CWA)
    • Rotary Australia World Community Services
    • St Vincent de Paul Society
    • The Salvation Army.

Safer Communities Fund Round 4

  • Closed

Provides schools and pre-schools, community organisations and local councils with grants of up to $1.5 million for security infrastructure and engagement activities to protect children in the community who are at risk of attack, harassment or violence stemming from racial or religious intolerance. Places of religious worship can apply if they meet the eligibility criteria, however all applicants must link their application to protecting children as one of the demographics being protected (even if adults are also part of the demographic).

Who can apply:

At a minimum, you must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be one of the following entities:

  • an incorporated not for profit organisation
  • an Australian local government agency or body
  • an Australian State/Territory Government agency or body
  • a registered school or pre-school that is a legal entity (with its own unique ABN) and that can enter into a grant agreement in its own right
  • a legal entity applying on behalf of a registered school or pre-school.

Safer Communities Fund Round 3 - Early Intervention Grants

Provides state and territory peak Police Citizen’s Youth Clubs, Bluelight organisations and Youth Off the Streets with grants of up to $2 million to deliver local crime prevention activities that address anti-social behaviour and/or racial or religious intolerance by at-risk marginalised youth.

At a minimum, you must have an ABN and be one of the following:

  • a state or territory peak Police Citizens’ Youth Club
  • a state or territory peak Bluelight organisation
  • Youth Off the Streets Limited.

National Science Week Grants

Provides individuals and organisations with grants between $2,000 and $20,000 to support the delivery of science engagement activities during National Science Week. National Science Week is Australia's major national celebration of the sciences in August each year. The next National Science Week will be held from 10 - 18 August 2019.

Provides Australian research organisations with grants of up to $1 million to participate in Joint Research Centres that link Australian and Chinese research institutions to conduct research-related activities.

Who can apply:

You must be one of the following:

  • an incorporated not for profit company
  • a Publicly Funded Research Organisation (PFRO)
  • a Cooperative Research Centre
  • an other Australian incorporated entity.

Who can apply:

At a minimum, you must:

  • be investing in one of the eligible 92 regional local government areas
  • be able to make a significant financial or in-kind contribution towards the cost of the project
  • spend the funding within three years of approval being granted.
